LIVINGSTON -- Veronica Rodriguez, 35, of Modesto, died Sunday night when her 1993 Ford went out of control and overturned on Highway 99 near Livingston.
California Highway Patrol officers said Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:41 p.m. crash south of Liberty Avenue. She was southbound in the slow lane at unknown speed when her vehicle began to fishtail.
Rodriguez' car veered into the fast lane, swerved back into the slow lane, then went out of control into the dirt-gravel center median. The left rear corner of her car hit two plastic sand barrels and overturned.
Officers said Rodriguez, not wearing a safety belt, was ejected from the car and became airborne. The collision remains under investigation but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
