STEVINSON -- Three men wearing ski masks and carrying semi-automatic handguns busted into a Stevinson home Saturday night, holding a family of five hostage and shooting a 17-year-old boy.
Deputy Preston Sanchez of the Merced County Sheriff's Department said the teenager was airlifted to a Modesto hospital where he was treated and released for a gunshot wound to his lower torso. A woman in the house on Third Avenue in Stevinson was pistol-whipped by the intruders.
Sanchez said an unknown amount of cash and cell phones were stolen from the family members, who were tied up by the home invasion robbers. The teenager was shot when he taunted his captors.
