It didn't take long for Mike Perkins to analyze his team's performance.
The Los Banos girls basketball coach was short and to the point.
"We didn't show up," Perkins said. "We got off the bus, came into the gym -- and that's all we did."
Perkins watched his team score just one point in the first quarter and struggle throughout a 41-30 loss to Golden Valley Tuesday night at Cougar Arena.

"If we play like that, we'll be lucky to get one or two wins," said Perkins, whose team dropped to 1-2 in the Central California Conference and 11-7 overall.
"All the good things we've done this year. We didn't do any of those things tonight. I'm really disappointed."
GV coach Matt Thissen sang a different tune.
Thissen felt his team came out with the intensity it needed in what they felt was a big game with both teams coming in at 1-1 in conference play.
"We played with a lot of tenacity," he said. "We didn't come out in our press. We wanted them to focus on their half-court defense.
"I think it worked. We hit them with our press in the second half and we got some turnovers and layups.
"I think it was a good move."
Porsha Grayson scored 15 points to lead Golden Valley and Shannon McMillin added 12 points.
Golden Valley held Los Banos without a field goal until Brooke Silva made a shot with 7:06 left in the second quarter.
Silva scored 23 of LB's 30 points. Shelly Martin (5 points) and Melisa Sanders (2) were the only other Los Banos players to score.
McMillin drew the tough assignment of guarding Silva.
"She was very active on defense," Thissen said. "We told her that she was averaging 20 points per game and she was pretty much going to be up to her.
"If she's going to score (23), and they're only going to score 30, we'll take it. At least we made her work. She wasn't able to just camp out on the block."
After falling behind 20-9 at the half, Los Banos never cut the deficit to single digits in the second half.
"This was a big game with us and Los Banos both coming in 1-1," Thissen said. "Whoever lost was going to be two games back.
"It was a good win to help us keep pace."
