Victims in unrelated shootings Saturday night and Sunday afternoon in Merced and Winton weren't seriously injured, according to Merced County Sheriff's Department reports.
A 44-year-old Merced man was shot in the stomach about noon Sunday outside a residence at 2249 Anderegg Ave., Merced. The man, not identified, was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto where he was listed in good condition, Detective Lane Clark of the department's Major Crimes Unit said.
Manuel Angel, 27, of Merced, is being sought in connection with the shooting. Clark said Angel and the victim had an argument over the telephone several days ago. Angel reportedly went to the man's house where a fight took place outside the residence. As Angel was leaving, he allegedly turned around from about 10 yards away and shot at his victim once or twice with a handgun.
Clark said witnesses at the scene positively identified Angel. He is described as a Hispanic male adult, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, with dark hair and dark eyes.
In the Winton incident about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Steve Clinton said an 18-year-old man was shot in the ankle or lower leg in a drive-by shooting on Page Avenue. He was taken to the Community Campus of Mercy Medical Center Merced for treatment of minor injures.
A "little black car" was believed involved in the unprovoked shooting but no further description was available, Clinton said.
