DOS PALOS -- A 19-year-old man was shot Sunday night and airlifted to an out-of-the-area hospital for treatment of critical head injuries, Dos Palos Police Chief Barry Mann said.
Mann said the man, whom he declined to identify, was shot about 9:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Golden Gate Avenue in an incident which appears to be gang-related. The shooting appears to be in retaliation for a knife assault several weeks ago in which a juvenile was stabbed four times.
The man's shooting is the most serious incident investigated by police in about five to six years, Mann said. No further information was available Sunday night.
