Two boys, ages 15 and 17, were caught early Sunday afternoon by Merced County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Daryl Allen spraying graffiti on a railroad bridge at California Street near Santa Fe Drive in Winton.Deputy Tom MacKenzie, sheriff’s department spokesman, said Allen found the two boys fitting the description given by an anonymous caller about 1 p.m. The teens had spray paint cans in their backpacks along with a digital camera.Allen searched through the photos in the camera and found several pictures of the vandalism that had just occurred at the BNSF Railway bridge as well as several other incidents at other locations. He also discovered video footage on the camera of the two juveniles in the act of spray-painting the bridge.MacKenzie said both teens were booked into Merced County Juvenile Hall on charges of vandalism and conspiracy to commit vandalism.- Doane Yawger
