Four men wearing bandannas rob man

Walking home from a friend's house Sunday night, the last thing a 21-year-old Merced man expected was to be knocked down, robbed and held at gunpoint by four men, Lt. Bimley West of the Merced Police Department said Monday.

The man, not identified, was not seriously injured in the 9:50 p.m. incident at 11th and E streets. He lost his wallet and a small amount of cash when he was attacked without warning by four Hispanic male adults, West said.

The robbery victim was walking with a friend when the men approached in a white Honda Civic, stopped the car, got out and knocked him to the ground without saying anything. The man's friend took off running when the incident took place.

"These guys appear desperate; they will attack anybody," West said.

All of the robbers were wearing bandannas. The robbery victim did not require medical treatment.
