Tonight I just saw the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen in my life! No disrespect to Phelps and what he's doing but what Usain Bolt did in my eyes is truly amazing. I can't even imagine what he would have ran if he would have ran through the tape.
Speaking of Phelps, many athletes are starting to get annoyed with the media coverage Phelps is getting. It seems it has became the "Phelps Games" and not the Olympic games. I have to say I honestly agree. What he is doing is great, but one person is not bigger than the Olympics. Olympic athletes only have this stage and this 15 minutes of fame, and Phelps is getting 14:58s of it. I don't want to come across like I'm hating on Phelps but there are a lot of other great stories that will only get a brief look. I hope anyone reading this does not take what I said the wrong way.
Moving on, today was pretty low-key. I spent most of the time at the USA house watching track and field. Everyone was ready for the showdown between Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell, and Usain Bolt. Tyson Gay finished fifth in his semi-heat and did not make the finals. This was not the start the US team was looking for in track and field. Hopefully we will be able to rebound and start collecting some golds and catch China who is really pulling in the gold medals right now.
If anyone has any questions they would like to ask me or address please feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer them in the blog. That's it for tonight. GO USA.
