The honors keep rolling in for Merced's Bernard Bolden and Stephon Mathis.
Both seniors sparkled on the football field this fall and their accomplishments were noticed state-wide.
Bolden and Mathis were named to ESPN's CalHiSports' All-State third team.
Bolden was the Sun-Star Player of the Year and Central California Conference MVP.
Bolden did a little of everything for Merced.
He carried the ball 58 times for 649 yards and five touchdowns.
The senior also caught 21 passes for 377 yards and another two scores.
Bolden also had 92 tackles and two interceptions on defense.
Mathis ran over, around and through defenses for 1,947 yards and 26 touchdowns.
"They are both deserving," Merced coach Rob Scheidt said.
"If we would have made it past the section semifinals and reached the section finals they might have been on the first or second team.
"Their performances definitely warranted this type of recognition."
