Not many teams have a third scoring option like Donte Scott.
The Golden Valley senior can score points in bunches.
He proved it again on Wednesday night, scoring 10 of his 17 points during a pivotal second quarter as Golden Valley defeated Atwater 81-66 at Cougar Arena.
"Donte is a scorer," said GV coach Keith Hunter, whose team improved to 4-2 in the Central California Conference and 17-4 overall.

"He likes to score and that helps him become a scorer. He's a manipulative player. You don't think he's going to shoot and then he does.
"He was instrumental in getting us going tonight."
It's John Sykes' high-flying acrobatics and Alex Fletcher's all-around game that usually attract attention.
Both seniors showed why against Atwater with Fletcher scoring 21 points to go along with eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Sykes added 12 points and four blocks.
However, it was Scott who helped GV take control of the game against an Atwater team that came out on fire.
Albert Martinez scored
13 of his 17 points in the first half as Atwater (1-5, 6-14) jumped on top of Golden Valley early.
That was until Scott hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter.
Scott also showed his ability to hang in the air and get off shots in traffic during a third-quarter run that helped GV put the game away.
"I've always been able to do that," Scott said. "It comes from playing against my dad. He's 6-foot-6, so I had to find ways to score around him."
Scott scored seven points during a 16-2 run by GV that extended the lead to 61-44 with 2:35 left in the third quarter.
"The bottom line is we didn't block out," Atwater coach John Kane said. "A lot of those points came on second and third chances. Then (Golden Valley) smelled blood and they picked up the pressure a bit."
Scott Livesay scored 12 points for Golden Valley.
"Atwater took it to us aggressively early on," Hunter said. "They shot the ball well and we were a step slow.
"Once we got it going, I thought we played solid in the second and third quarters."
