Marcus Knott had to be happy to see the latest Sac-Joaquin Section power ratings.
Knott's Merced boys basketball team didn't drop despite losing Friday night's game to Golden Valley.
Merced (8-2 Central California Conference, 16-9 overall) remained at No. 5 in the Division I ratings.
Merced should be able to hold its spot or move up if it can close out the regular season with wins against Los Banos tonight and Buhach Colony on Friday.

Golden Valley (8-2, 21-4) also remained at No. 3 in Division I with two wins last week.
It appears GV won't be able to catch No. 1 Folsom or No. 2 Rodriguez.
Golden Valley can stay at No. 3 with wins over No. 8 Pitman and Atwater this week.
Other teams did take a fall in the ratings.
The Livingston boys basketball team's loss to Central Catholic resulted in a drop from No. 4 to 6 in the Division III ratings.
The Mariposa and Le Grand boys remained at No. 9 and 11, respectively, in Division IV.
On the girls' side, it looks like only Turlock will qualify for the playoffs out of the CCC.
No. 20 Golden Valley (6-4, 11-13) would need to win both of its game this week and get plenty of help to sneak into the playoffs.
Hilmar (11-2 Western Athletic Conference, 21-3) has the top rating of any local girls team with the No. 3 spot in Division IV.
Le Grand (13-0 Southern League, 22-2) is two spots behind Hilmar at No. 5.
The playoff brackets will be released on Sunday afternoon.
