Mmm! Sauteed shrimp & elephant garlic, with diced capers and bean threads (think rice noodle or pasta, but made from bean sprouts). A tasty and light meal.
However, paired with a most decadent style of beer: Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Barleywine, it was a light meal no more. Full bodied, malty sweet, and hoppy resin covers the palate in one of my favorite commercial beers. At 9.6% alcohol by volume, closing in on wine-like strength, it's easy to understand how "barleywine" was coined.
