ATWATER — Four robbers wearing ski masks held up an Atwater jewelry store and a customer Tuesday afternoon, escaping with a large amount of jewelry and cash, Atwater police said.
Detective Armando Echevarria said an undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash were taken at 2:30 p.m. from a cash register and display cases at Goldsmith Jewelers, 1829 Bellevue Road. However, he confirmed the losses were "fairly sizable."
One of the robbers was sporting a black revolver. He fired one shot into a display case and his companions broke several display cases to extract the jewelry, according to Echevarria.
No injuries were reported.
The robbers were last seen running south through the shopping center parking lot toward an apartment complex. Three employees were in the store at the time of the robbery, along with a customer.
All four robbers were about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds. One robber was wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans; a second robber wore a checkered formal jacket and dark pants. The other two suspects wore dark sweatshirts and pants.
Those with information about the robbery are asked to call Echevarria at (209) 357-6395 or the Atwater Police Department's automated tipline at (209) 357-6390.
