Merced Mall's free annual Summer Music Series begins with Latin artists June 5

Merced Mall said its fourth annual free Summer Music Series begins with the world renowned Cuerdas de Fuego (Strings of Fire) duo, Saturday evening, June 5.

Ramón Romero is a master of the Paraguayan harp, dedicated to performing and preserving the musical folk treasures of his native South America, the mall said in a news release. He tours internationally as a soloist, performing and teaching master classes in Europe and the Americas each year. He has recorded 36 albums in South America and Europe and five in the U.S., two with the Cuerdas de Fuego trio.

Carlos Caro is one of the world's most versatile Latin percussionists, the news release said. Born and musically educated in Cuba, Caro explored rhythms in his travels through South and Central America before settling in California to become one of the most sought-after session percussionists as well as a member of the Cuerdas de Fuego trio.
