ATWATER -- Visit the Country Pantry 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1495 Underwood, Atwater.
Pies, cakes, cookies, candies, jams, jellies and breads of all kinds will fill the baked goods table. Pomegranates, lemons and sweet potatoes will also be sold.

UC Merced will have a celebratory scholarship fundraising luncheon at noon on Tuesday at the Joseph Edward Gallo Recreation and Wellness Center.
The newly inaugurated chancellor will attend the luncheon with dignitaries from the UC system and local and state government. Tickets are $50 each and proceeds will go to benefit the Chancellor's Scholarship Fund at UC Merced.

Cajun food, festivities
The 2007 Cajun Feast and Costume Ball is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Bootjack Stompers Hall, off Ben Hur Road at Highway 49, across from the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The Yosemite Dixieland Band will provide the evening's music for listening and dancing.
On the menu will be authentic shrimp Creole Louisiana, served over aromatic rice; "good luck" black-eyed peas, okra a la Bayou, Mardi Gras Salad, truly decadent chocolate pecan pie, southern pecan pie, pecan praline ice cream and Creole coffee.
In addition to the all-you-can-eat meal, there will also be games for the family and a costume contest with prizes.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, and those younger than 5 will be admitted free.

Feast on crab
The Livingston Rotary Club will have its 24th Annual Crab Feed Project Fund on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Livingston Pentecost Dining Gall, 1237 Main St., Livingston.
Hosted cocktails will be from 6 to 7 p.m., followed immediately by dinner. The menu includes salad, pasta, bread, wine and crab. There will also be a silent auction and more than 100 raffle prizes.

Time for polenta
The Italian Catholic Federation, Branch No. 39, Merced, will serve a polenta and chicken cacciatore dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Italo American Lodge Hall, 18th and U streets, Merced.
The dinner will be served family style for a donation of $12 for adults, $6 for children younger than 12. Coffee and wine will be included.
Proceeds go to scholarships and other community programs. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
