Helena Chemical Co. will host a collection event for farmers and growers who have agricultural-chemical containers Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 50 Reilly Road in Merced. Merced County Agricultural Commissioner staff will also be on site to provide assistance.
Rinse certificates for the containers are required and are available from the ag commissioner's office. It is recommended that the rinse certificates be obtained in advance to expedite container dropoff. Appointments for rinse certificates can be made by calling the ag commissioner's office at (209) 385-7431.
Only HDPE No. 2 containers are acceptable. Rinse certificates for the containers are required. Remove any label booklets and sleeves, but leave the glued-on labels identifying the product. Container caps, metal handles, rubber gaskets and foil seals must be removed. Thirty-gallon containers should have the tops and bottoms cut off and the rest cut into three rings.
