A report on crop conditions for Merced County for the week ending Oct. 31 has been released by the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner's office.
The cotton crop is about 25 percent harvested, with 100 percent of the bolls open. About 40 percent of winter wheat has been planted, with about 10 percent emerged.
The eighth cutting of alfalfa continues. Cotton, dry bean and silage corn harvests continue, along with new alfalfa plantings.
The harvest of almonds, pistachios, walnuts, wine grapes, figs and raisins continues. Sweet potato and radicchio harvests also continue. Parsley, cantaloupe and watermelon harvests are complete.
Pasture and range conditions are good, with supplemental feeding of hay and nutrients to livestock continuing.
