Three Santa Barbara County restaurants are among the best in California, according to the Michelin Guide.

This month, the guide announced 37 delicious additions to its Michelin Guide California selection.

“These establishments are highlighted as ‘new’ on guide.michelin.com to help food lovers enjoy new discoveries before the full selection is revealed Dec. 5 at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles,” the Michelin Guide said.

Beloved among foodies, the Michelin Guide famously awards stars to high-quality restaurants around the globe, and its California-centric guide highlights some of the most acclaimed eateries in the Golden State.

First up on the Santa Barbara County list is AMA Sushi in Montecito, located at the luxury Rosewood Miramar Beach resort.

“Inspired by the legacy of Japanese free divers, the restaurant derives its name from the valiant women who swam the ocean to collect fresh seafood for their villages,” the AMA Sushi website says.

“It’s worth going all in on the omakase to sample the chef’s artistry, which begins with a trinity of bites from soba noodles and fried eggplant to sesame tofu,” the Michelin Guide says.

Next up is Bar Le Côte in Los Olivos, which bills itself “a stylish seafood tavern.”

“Inspired by the daily catch of the Central Coast and the modern cuisine of Europe’s seaside capitals, our team prepares thoughtful maritime fare in a casual, social atmosphere,” the website says.

Michelin agrees, recommending diners try more than one menu item.

“Slide in to one of the booths or banquettes and settle in for a meal that is an ode to the sea and is best enjoyed with shared plates,” it says.

Finally, there’s peasants FEAST in Solvang, which features gourmet sandwiches with sides of crispy potatoes, cheesy polenta, a salad or soup.

The restaurant is thriving despite opening during the middle of the pandemic.

“It may seem impossible to be even more charming than its Solvang surroundings, but peasants FEAST doubles down, and delivers,” the guide says. “This daytime-only café from Michael and Sarah Cherney spotlights the seasons on its sandwich-driven menu.”
