A recall has been announced for two models of lunch boxes distributed in Merced County by the Network for a Healthy California.
The California Department of Public Health is warning consumers not to use the canvas lunch boxes because elevated levels of lead were detected in some of them.
No illnesses have yet been linked to the lunch boxes.
Merced County’s division of the Network for a Healthy California, run by the Merced County Office of Education, passed these lunch boxes out at several health fairs and educational functions in the area.
