Scholarship fund party
The California Retired Teachers' Association will hold its annual Scholarship Fund Card Party at the Merced Senior Community Center on Monday. This event is CRTA's major source of scholarship funds, which, along with a small contribution from the Merced School Employees Credit Union, accounts for more than $3,000 worth of scholarships awarded to deserving Merced College Students who are pursuing careers in the educational field.

The Livingston/Delhi Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW monthly breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Livingston Veterans Memorial Hall, 1605 7th St. Adults are $6, children under 12 $4. Breakfast consists of pancakes, French toast or biscuits and gravy; served with eggs cooked to order, hash browns, sausage or ham and coffee and juice.

Merced Dems meeting
The next meeting of the Merced Associated Democrats will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the county Administration Bldg., on M St., Room 310. For more information, call 722-4782.
'A Day of Service'
Castle Family Health Centers, Inc. and Soroptimist International of Atwater will host Improving the Lives of Women and Children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 1 at Bloss Clinic, 1251 Grove St. They will offer free screenings for diabetes, bone density, blood pressure, breast exams, vision and hearing and much more. Central Valley Opportunity Center is offering applications for scholarships in the amount of $750 to graduating high school seniors from Madera, Merced and Stanislaus counties. Completed application packets are due by March 24 and students must have a GPA of at least 3.0, financial need and be planning to pursue education at a vocational, junior college, state college or university in fall 2008. Recipients will be selected by CVOC Board of Directors. For applications or more information, interested students should contact their high school counselor or call 357-0062, ext. 123.
