A 27-year-old Gustine man died Saturday in a high-speed rollover near Whitworth and Worthington roads northwest of the Merced County town.
The California Highway Patrol reported today that the victim and a 17-year-old male driver, also from Gustine, were southbound on Whitworth at more than 100 mph shortly before 8 p.m. when their 2000 Honda Accord left the road and overturned several times. Neither person's name was made public.
The victim, who was a passenger, was ejected and landed in a drainage ditch about 120 feet away, officers said.
The driver was treated at a Modesto hospital for minor injuries, then booked into the Merced Juvenile Detention Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
