A storm coming in Friday night may bring early snow at the Sierra National Forest, and forest visitors should be prepared for changing conditions.
Snow is expected to fall at elevations above 8,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada. Snow levels will be near the crest Friday night but lower to around 8,000 feet or so Saturday morning, then possibly as low as 7,000 feet later Saturday in lingering showers.
The storm will cause cool and wet conditions Friday night and Saturday. Higher chances of rain and snow are expected from Kings Canyon National Park to Yosemite Valley.
Visitors or travelers are asked to look out for slippery roads, bring adequate warm clothing and food, and carry tire chains.
Sierra National Forest officials remind visitors to notify someone of their trip plans and destination.
