Merced police arrest five youths for tagging mailboxes, fences

Merced police reported the arrest of five juveniles on Saturday on suspicion of leaving graffiti in the 100 block of S Street.

Police said an officer spotted the youths, while on patrol on the 1100 block of West Third Street, and found one in possession of spray paint cans and another with spray can nozzles. Police said the other juveniles had thrown down some cans of paint as the officer approached.

The officer found numerous locations in the area with tagged graffiti on mailboxes and fences during his investigation.

The youths were all booked at Merced County Juvenile Hall.
