Houston exec named head of KFSN/ABC30 in Fresno

ABC’s KFSN-TV, Fresno, said Dan A. Adams, a veteran local television station executive who most recently was vice president, business manager, at ABC-owned KTRK-TV in Houston, has been named president and general manager of ABC30.

In his new roles, Adams has overall responsibility for KFSN-TV’s television broadcast services serving California’s Central Valley area, including Fresno, Madera, Merced, Tulare and Kings Counties.

He also oversees KFSN-TV’s ABC30.com Web site, mobile wireless services and other local business operations, the station said.

Walter Liss, president of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group, announced his appointment.

“Dan Adams’s proven track record at KTRK-TV in Houston since 1997, along with his highly successful experience with other local television stations over the past 25 years, makes him well qualified for this top station management post in Fresno,” Liss said.

Before joining KTRK-TV and the ABC Owned Television Stations Group 11 years ago, Adams was vice president of finance at Fox Television Stations’ KTVI-TV in St. Louis. He also has held station and group management positions for Argyle Television in St. Louis; River City Broadcasting in Des Moines; Palmer Communications in Fort Myers, Florida; and WOC-TV, WOC-AM and KIIX-FM in Davenport, Iowa.

Adams serves on the board of directors of the Media Financial Management Association and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received a BA in Accounting and Business Administration from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

Adams and his wife Teresa have two adult sons and will be relocating to the Fresno area.

In addition to KFSN-TV and KTRK-TV, the ABC Owned Television Stations include WABC-TV in New York; KABC-TV in Los Angeles; WLS-TV in Chicago; WPVI-TV in Philadelphia; KGO-TV in San Francisco; WTVD-TV in Raleigh-Durham; WJRT-TV in Flint, Mich.; and WTVG-TV in Toledo, Ohio
