Man swings Samurai sword at brother, Merced Police say

A Merced man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he allegedly swung a Samurai sword at his brother.

Merced Police said that Daniel Garcia cut his brother, Manuel, with the display sword after an argument at an apartment in the 3200 block of Meadows Ave. Manuel Garcia received two cuts, a laceration on his left hand and a severe laceration under his arm. He is being treated at Mercy Medical Center Merced. The wounds were not life threatening.

Following the assault, Daniel Garcia left the apartment and broke the windsheild of his brother's car, police said. Daniel Garcia was found by police officers in the 1100 block of W. Olive Ave. He was arrested and taken to Merced County Jail, where he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
