The Merced County Chamber of Commerce said it would recognize the Volunteer of the Quarter Award, Louise Farley, and the Good Business Citizen of the Quarter Award, Joseph Ramirez, Oct. 23..
The presentation will be held at a Branding Iron Restaurant luncheon.
Farley, a senior field representative for Sen. Jeff Denham, is a longtime community volunteer. Ramirez, vice president and branch manager for RaboBank, is a businessman and advocate for the economic prosperity of the area.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jerry Yang, owner of the new Pocket 8’s Sushi & Grill Restaurant and 2007 World Series Poker champion. Yang will tell his personal story and why he believes Merced County is a solid bet when considering a place to live and build a business.

Yang pledged 50 percent of the lunch and dinner proceeds from the Sept. 8 grand opening of the Pocket 8’s Sushi & Grill. He’ll present the donation to the Merced Fire Department, the Merced Police Department and the Merced County Sheriff’s Department. He’ll also present a donation to the Southeast Asian Americans Professional Association.
