SACRAMENTO – The Department of Housing and Community Development said it awarded $1 million in funds to develop economic opportunities for small cities and rural counties throughout California.
Atwater’s Downtown Streetscape Development got $70,000.
The 18 grants were made through the State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The funds are part of the CDBG Economic Development Planning and Technical Assistance allocation from the federal government.
"These awards will provide an immediate boost to the local economies of smaller cities and rural communities," said HCD Director Lynn L. Jacobs.
