The California High Speed Rail Authority has two meetings scheduled for next week regarding the San Jose-to-Merced section of the proposed system.
The meetings, scheduled in Gilroy and San Jose, follow a December gathering in Merced. A meeting will be held in Gilroy on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 6070 Monterey Road. Another meeting in San Jose is scheduled for Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Roosevelt Community Center, 901 E. Santa Clara St. The meetings are an open house format.
The California High-Speed Rail Authority will display results of the draft alternatives analysis report and recommendations for design options. Public comments received during the meetings will be considered as the authority readies its final alternatives analysis.
The proposed 800-mile high-speed train system will link Sacramento and the Bay Area with Southern California, with a stop in Merced. Castle Commerce Center has been proposed as the location of the rail system's maintenance hub.
