Two men armed with a golf club robbed a home in the 100 block of 19th Street and tied up at least one of the residents Thursday night, Merced police say.
Juan Hernandez, 36, and Bret Harrison, 21, both of Merced, allegedly threatened to hit the home's residents if they didn't comply with their demands. The suspects stole cash from the victims, removing the money from their pockets prior to leaving the home. When police arrived, they found a 46-year-old woman who was bound at the hands and feet with plastic ties. The 36-year-old male resident was unharmed, police said.
Later, Officer Ryan Rasmussen pulled over a white Chevrolet Suburban driven by Hernandez and Harrison near the intersection of V Street and Auto Center Drive. Rasmussen saw the plastic ties in the back of the vehicle and saw that the men matched the descriptions of the robbery suspects. The stolen cash was also found with the suspects, police said.
Hernandez and Harrison booked into Merced County Jail on charges of home invasion robbery and false imprisonment. Police are still conducting the investigation.
