Kiwanis to stage annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at Applegate Park

The Kiwanis Kiddieland Club said it will stage its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, near Kiddieland in Applegate Park, at 10 a.m.

Younger children will collect eggs on the tennis/basketball courts, while elementary school kids will collect eggs in the grove next to them.

Turnout usually means hundreds and sometimes over 1,000 children show up to collect brightly colored eggs filled with candy and tickets for other prizes, organizers said in a news release.

Kiddieland will open early at 11 a.m. and feature its cars, rockets, merry-go-round and GoGator.

The train and helicopters are still being rebuilt, and Kiwanis organizers said they hope to have them ready soon.

During the past offseason for Kiddieland, the train tracks underwent a major renovation. It took several years of fundraising in the community to be able to complete the $85,000 project, awarded to local contractor Trico.
