Just five days remain to mail back census forms in order to avoid a census worker on the doorstep.
Households have until April 16 to mail back the 2010 census forms. Personal visits to non-responding households begin May 1.
The Census Bureau saves about $85 million for every percentage point increase in the number of people who mail their forms back. The national mail back participation was at 65 percent today.
It costs the bureau $57 to follow up with a personal visit to a home where the person did not mail back the form.
