26 young women competed in Saturday's Miss Atwater Scholarship pageant

Tara Bazan was crowned Miss Atwater at the Miss Atwater Scholarship pageant at Buhach Colony High School Theater on Saturday, and 26 young women from the Winton/Atwater area also competed, organizers said.

Ashleigh Rice was the first runner-up and Miss Congeniality.

Categories included: Miss Atwater (girls 17-22); Teen Miss Atwater (seventh- and eighth-grade girls); and Wee Miss Atwater (girls 5-7).

Winners in the Wee Miss category were Wee Miss Atwater Talya Quirate; first runner-up Felicity Wilkinson; second runner-up Alexis Perez; and third runner-up Ycela Ochoa.

Winners in the Teen Miss category were Cristal Preciado, Teen Miss Atwater; and first runner-up Alexis Vang.

Miss Atwater is a college scholarship pageant for girls 17-22.

Also competing this year were Gabby Aguiniga, Sammy Sandoval, Amber Dutra, Laura Gonzalez and Brianne Rogue.

Other Teen Miss contestants were Kimberline Sabine and Jazmine Barragan.

Other Wee Miss contestants were Jaylin Pinasco, Ellie Brown, Patience Sargent, Makayla Silveira, Ciarra Croker, Reine Sloan, Kati Galindez, Brooklyn Canela, Annette Petty, Maryann Ceja and Asia Joaquin.

The winners were crowned by the outgoing 2009 miss, teen and wee winners.
