Comcast adds HD channels for Spanish-speaking subscribers

Comcast announced Monday it is introducing two new high-definition channels for Spanish-speaking viewers. Starting May 5, Merced- and Los Banos-area Comcast subscribers will have access to Univision HD on channel 702, and TeleFutura HD on channel 712.

The new channels will be available to customers who subscribe to Comcast's limited basic HD package.

To accommodate the new channels, Comcast is moving two music stations. Music Choice: Hip-Hop and R&B will move to channel 902, and Music Choice: Classic Rock will move to channel 912.

Univision is the top Spanish-language network in the United States. Its programming includes news shows, soap operas and soccer tournaments. TeleFutura offers entertainment and gossip news shows, as well as reality and sports programming.
