The Merced County Fair said the deadline for most entries is Thursday, May 13. Depending on the entry category, you can win ribbons, prizes and even cash awards.
This year’s theme is “Wetlands, Water and Wildlife,” and many of the entry divisions from fine arts to amateur gardens include a class for exhibitors to create an entry inspired by the theme. The 119th Fair, sponsored by the 35th District Agricultural Association, is June 15-20.
The 2010 Merced County Fair Exhibitors’ handbooks include all entry forms and are available online at www.MercedCountyFair.com or can be picked up at the fair office, 900 Martin Luther King. Jr. Way. Office hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The free 79-page handbook contains everything you need to know with easy instructions on how to submit entries in all the fair’s divisions and categories. The possibilities are endless -- including citrus and other fruit crops, holiday decorations, wind chimes, “Afghans for Charity,” hanging plants, tricks with a mix recipe contest, fabric painting, appetizer and fruit pie recipe cooking contests, dehydrated foods, jewelry, collections, paper airplanes and woodworking.
