The city of Merced said 38 vendors have signed up to feed, entertain and amuse the crowds at Cap&Town '10 today in downtown Merced.
The list includes seven food booths offering treats from Brazilian barbecue and tri-tip sandwiches to cookies, kettle-corn and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Downtown restaurants also will be open to serve to festivalgoers.
There will be farm-fresh, locally grown produce available, honey from the region and numerous plants to decorate the home, the city said in a news release.
The city also said The Ultimate Block Party will feature a dozen bands that will be performing on the three stages with everything from reggae to indie to surf rock. One stage will be dedicated to dancing and performances by groups from around the area.
Cap&Town '10 will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. in downtown Merced to celebrate all of the academic achievements for the area's graduates.
There will also be roller derby demos and roping demos, human bowling and sumo wrestling, origami peace crane making and face-painting. For younger kids there will be bounce houses and a petting zoo. The U.S. Army will return with its rock-climbing wall.
The Cap&Town '10 festival will take place on Main Street from M to Martin Luther King Jr. Way and on Canal Street between Main and 18th Street. There's free parking around the site.
