Riggs Ambulance Service of Merced County said it received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).
Riggs said it received the accreditation for its compliance with national standards of excellence for emergency medical service providers after the successful completion of a voluntary review process. The process included a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services, the company said in a news release.
Said Don Vonarx, general manager: "Of over 160 ambulance services in California, Riggs is one of only 16 ambulances services to attain CAAS accreditation.”
Added a Riggs spokeswoman: “This accreditation is very important to Riggs because it is based on a higher set of standards than local or state requirements.”
