Playhouse Merced to hold auditions for 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'

Playhouse Merced said it will hold auditions for the musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” Saturday June 26, at 1 p.m. at Playhouse Merced

The show will be directed by Corey Strauss. Those auditioning are asked to prepare 16 bars of any song. Please provide sheet music for the accompanist to play.

First produced in 1968, “Joseph” is a light-hearted and joyous musical based on the "coat of many colors" story from The Book of Genesis, according to a news release. The show features a variety of different song styles by Andrew Lloyd Webber (“Cats” “Phantom of the Opera” “Evita”) and Tim Rice (“Aladdin” “The Lion King).

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will begin rehearsals in July, with performances Sept. 3 – 19. Performances are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Playhouse Merced is Merced County’s largest community theater and is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization.
