The body of a 45-year-old woman was found in a Loughborough area apartment on Tuesday, Merced police reported.
The cause of death hasn't been determined, according to Lt. Andre Matthews. Although police are calling the death "suspicious," Matthews said investigators haven't gone as far as calling it a homicide.
Family members of the woman, identified as Kimberly Sewell, became concerned after they'd been trying to call her, but hadn't heard any response.
They went to her apartment in the 1100 block of Loughborough Drive and forced themselves inside, discovering the body. The family notified Merced police, who responded to the scene at 9:15 p.m. Matthews said.
Police believe Sewell had been dead for a few days. Investigators believe the victim had medical issues, although Matthews wouldn't elaborate on what those issues were.
He also declined to say whether the victim had any visible injuries or where she was located inside the home.
