Traffic on Highway 99 has returned to normal after a single-car accident prompted a grass fire along the embankment.
According to CHP spokesman John Patterson, a driver went over the curb onto the 16th Street onramp to northbound Highway 99, sparking a fire. The vehicle also caught fire and burned, Patterson said.
Earlier: A collision near the 16th Street onramp to Highway 99 has caused a grass fire on the embankment, slowing traffic to a crawl. No injuries are being reported. The California Highway Patrol is planning to direct traffic in the area.
