Merced County Fair lists today's and Wednesday's events

The Merced County Fair listed today's events:

The “Great American Duck Races,” featuring Robert Duck’s (his real name) live duck racing, “Mr. Duck’s Wild Ride,” starring 144 rubber duckies trying to stay afloat on a treacherous obstacle course made by local college students, a nightly antique tractor parade, evening livestock judging, Dr. Goodjohn’s Medicine Show and more! The gates open on the 119th fair at 5 p.m. Opening Day is presented by Emanuel Medical Center which will be handing out gifts to the first 1,000 fairgoers and the center will display a gigantic heart you can walk through to see how your heart works – The Pacific Tractor Pullers Association Tractor/4x4 Pull fires up at 7 p.m. Tuesday kicking off the fair’s CVC/CVT Grandstand action. Sons of the San Joaquin take the stage on Day 1 of six nights of headline entertainment at the CVC/CVT Outdoor Theatre at 8:30 p.m. The trio -- Hannah brothers, Joe and Jack, and Joe’s son, Lon -- were raised in the Central Valley and have sung their cowboy harmonies at “The Grand Ole Opry” and Carnegie Hall.

--7 to 11 a.m. Ag/Horticulture (fruits ‘n’ veggies) exhibits arrive

--10 a.m. Dairy Showmanship

--1 p.m. Floriculture exhibits judged

--5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dr. Goodjohn’s Medicine Show

--6- 8 p.m. Face painting

--6 p.m. Antique Tractor Parade. (Farmers, start your engines!)

--6:30/8/9:30 p.m. Great American Duck Races

--6:30/8 p.m. “Chocolate Passion” cooking contest judging Juniors/Seniors

--7:30- 9:30 p.m. Make frog magnets and pasta necklaces
