SummerFest begins today in downtown Merced. The event will be held every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. until Sept. 2. The first night will feature 18 vendors, music by Willy T from Oakdale's Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit, and dancing by a Portuguese group. Food vendors will sell kettle corn, corn-on-the-cob and hot dogs. Market vendors include a nursery and organic farms.
Main Street will be closed to car traffic from K to M streets.
