A 20-year-old man is recovering after being shot early Friday in the 1000 block of Barney Street in central Merced, police reported.
Police responded to a shots-fired call at 12:31 a.m. and discovered the victim, Nathan Jones, in the front yard of a residence, with gunshot wounds.
Jones reported two unidentified Latino male adults walked up to him. Without saying anything, one of the suspects pointed a handgun at him and shot him in the buttocks and ankle. Jones didn't know why the suspect shot him. Both suspects fled the area on foot toward East 23rd Street from Barney Street.
Jones was flown to a local hospital for treatment. He's expected to recover from his injuries.
