Flu shots offered today at Merced County Fairgrounds

The Merced County Health Department is holding a flu shot clinic today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, in the Half Dome Hall.

The clinic will give shots to anyone over the age of six months, and the fee for the shots is waived.

With no sign of repeats of last year's shortages, health officials are urging early flu vaccination. This year's vaccine will protect against the H1N1 (swine) flu strain and two other strains, H3N2 and influenza B.

Two other vaccination clinics will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27. A clinic will be held at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road in Atwater, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the same day, a clinic will be held at the Los Banos Fairgrounds, 403 F St. in Los Banos, in the O’Banion Building from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
