Mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers are forecast for the Valley this morning before a storm expected to drop up to a inch of rain in some areas moves into the region this weekend.
Merced will have a high of 71 with light breezes today, said the National Weather Service in Hanford.
Saturday’s high will be 67 and Sunday’s high is predicted at 66. Mostly cloudy skies will remain over the Valley throughout the weekend.
A 50% chance of rain is predicted for Saturday night. The threat of rain increases to 70% on Sunday.
Merced and other areas in the Valley can expect a half-inch to an inch of rain.
Overnight lows will be in the 50s through the weekend.
Partly sunny skies should return to the Valley floor on Monday.
Heavier rainfall is forecast for the Sierra, where the chance of showers will continue through early next week. Two to 4 inches of rain could fall in Yosemite Valley.
