A 17-year old suspected gang member will recover from a gun shot wound to his arm that he received on Oct. 21 in the Planada area. The attack, which is suspected to be gang-related, occurred at 7:20 p.m. on the 9000 block of Broadway. Four men all dressed in black hooded sweatshirts, with the hoods obscuring their faces and wore black or red pants, approached the victim and yelled gang slurs then fired one round of bullets from an unknown caliber gun, according to the victim.The victim was struck in the forearm then took off running. He was later taken to Mercy Hospital by ambulance, said Merced County Sheriff deputy Tom MacKenzie. The victim kept changing the details of his story and couldn’t offer a more elaborate description on his attackers, MacKenzie said.
