Fundraiser for Children's Hospital and railway museum to be held at 'Office of Terror'

An empty building at the El Portal Plaza in Merced is being decorated to be an Office of Terror for Halloween.

The 13 rooms in the office will be filled with ghouls, ghosts, zombies and more, and is a fundraising collaboration between The Spirit of Children, which works with Children's Hospital Central California to bring a little Halloween spirit to children who are unable to enjoy the holiday because they are in the hospital, and the Yosemite Gateway Railway Museum. The museum is being established in Merced to educate the public about railroad history in the development of the West, especially Merced.

The Office of Terror will be held at 3381 El Portal Plaza, Building M, at the corner of El Portal and G streets in Merced. It is open today from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 7 to 11 p.m.

Admission is $7 or $5 with a student ID.
