'Community Conversations' show to focus on family reading program

The California Welcome Center in Merced, a Family Reading Program and the Merced Food Faire are discussed this week on Community Conversations, a public service program on KYOS.

The hour-long show focuses on community, education and government news affecting residents throughout Merced County, the city said in a news release. It airs on KYOS, 1480 AM, at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The weekend lineup includes: Irene De La Cruz and Maria Rodrigues of Between Friends on Planada's Family Reading Program; Alice Kieffer and Chris Carroll of the Atwater Soroptimist Club on their upcoming Holiday Affair; Pastor Bill Ruth and Irene De La Cruz on Merced Food Faire 2010; Stan Murdock of Merced City Public Works Department on the upcoming leaf pickup program for Merced; and Karen Baker of the California Welcome Center on the activities and services available at the Center.

Roger Woods sits in this week for the regular host Nathan Quevedo, the public information officer for the Merced County Office of Education. The show is produced by MCOE, Roger Wood, Mike Conway from the city of Merced Public Information Office, and Scott Hernandez-Jason of the University of California, Merced, in association with the county of Merced and Merced College.
