County economic development corporation's board votes to oppose Measure C

The Merced County Economic Development Corp. said that at its quarterly board of directors meeting, it voted to "support uphollding individual property rights for farmers, business owners and residents" by voting to oppose Measure C.

Chris Winek, board chair, said, "I think it is fair to say taht this board is in support of property rights and not in favor of Measure C." The board voted unanimously to oppose Measure C, according to a news release from the organization.

The corporation is a private/public nonprofit that offers economic development expertise to the incorporated cities and unincorporated communities within Merced County. It provides services to local businesses interested in expanding and new businesses looking to establish or relocate to Merced County.

The board meeting was held Sept. 16.
