Riggs Ambulance Service said its employees sponsor a program called "Operation Give Hope" every year and select families who have fallen on hard times.
The employees provide them with presents for their children and a Save Mart gift card to buy food for their Christmas dinner.
This year, Riggs said it's seeking letters from community members all over Merced County. The letters should express information about families in need of a little extra help having a joyful holiday season.
All letters should be postmarked by Nov. 29, and should be sent to Operation Give Hope at Riggs Ambulance Service, 100 Riggs Ave., Merced, CA 95341.
Community members and organizations who would like to help Operation Give Hope or get more information can call (209) 564-6784.
Last holiday season, Riggs, along with Save Mart of Merced, was able to help 10 families across the county, Riggs said in a news release.
