Foster Farms donates 200 fresh turkeys to Merced Food Bank

Foster Farms said it donated 200 fresh turkeys (around 2,400 pounds) to the Merced Food Bank to help feed families in Merced County for Thanksgiving.

The company said it hopes that its contribution will encourage other local businesses and individuals to also support the cause. The turkeys will be distributed to 200 families at Our Redeemer Church in Livingston, along with sweet potatoes, rice, vegetables and more.

Demand for turkeys (and food assistance in general) is up this year, while food donations have fallen, Foster Farms said in a news release.
